Confusion Is Next is a band that play an original mixture of hardcore, post-grunge, noise and punk.

The monicker is clearly inspired by Sonic Youth's first album. But their music sounds more like Husker Du, and Nirvana most psychedelic moments.

In this album we find even some songs that recall some new-metal (Tool, System of a down) moods.

I suggest this band to all those people that love stoner-like distorted guitars, breaked of sometimes by calm, jazzy inserts that recall Sonic Youth's late productions.

Amity in Fame - Amity in Fame - Dinner for One [Album of the day]

Dinner for One is an album from Amity in Fame. This product is well recorded, the sound is very clean, and all the production sounds very professional. Dinner for One's music is similar first of all to the mood of Amorphis' "Elegy". The dark, folkish atmosphere is built, in Amity in Fame music, by a dark acoustic guitar and the impenetrable pact battery-bass. The male voice (sometimes completed by a female choir) is something between Tool's and Soundgarden's. The ethereal ann psychedelic touch in some moments recalls Porcupine Tree's darkest moments too.

We had already talked about Blue Haired Girl. This band is similar to Tortoise, Dirty Three, June of 44. The song I want to suggest, today, is built over an acoustic guitar riff and a lazy, lo-fi recorded speech. The xilophone that run after the melody add a bit of a magic mood.

Unanoraked in Vladivostok play a minimal, ambient music made of guitar and bass drones, dark moods and sudden changes from low, acoustic to high, electric tones.

They are similar, for example, to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Lato - Space and Time [Song of the day]

Last post was about this really nice italian psychedelic post-grunge band. Last song of the day a bit of a melancholic song. Today I want to share a happier song.

Space and time has a splendid (and not isolated...) intro, perfect to start a party, or a travel. There are still some contemplative moments, expecially in the final stages, but this seems to be Lato's trademark.

So, just push play and let the psychedelic party begins!

Lato is an italian band that plays a mix of psychedelic music, post-grunge and new wave.

Splendid Isolation is a melancholic (kind of) ballad.

It is similar to some Soundgarden moments (fell on the black days?), Mark Lanegan, Mad Season, and all the most experimental post-grunge sounds. In the final stages of the song, a trumpet enters, as an exotic touch to the dark mood.

Blue Haired Girl - Morricone [Song of the day]

Blue Haired Girl is an indie-pop band. If I had to tell you some similar artist, I would say June of 44, Tortoise, Dirty Three.

But their mood is really original. In "Morricone" a simple, whispered melody knocked between strings, xylophone and guitars creates epic but gentle atmospheres.

Fluydo - 7 Full Moon - 06 [Song of the day]

7 Full Moon - 06 is a trip-hop psychedelic song by Fluydo.

They used to release one new track every full moon. This song sounds like Portishead, and some of the less ermetic moments of Tricky's production.

Circa Vitae - Shine [Song of the day]

Shine is a post-grunge song by Circa Vitae.

It is really tricky to define the genre it belongs to. IMHO it sounds like Smashing Pumpkins' most epic moments (like Thru the eyes of ruby) mixed in some passages with a sort of brit indie-rock (like late Smashing Pumpkins themselves, e.g. The Everlasting Gaze). Furthermore, given that My Bloody Valentine were one of the main inspirations for Corgan's band, some shoegaze echoes in the chorus could be heard.
